American Independence Day

American Independence Day

It was a lucky day that I was invited to join the Independence Day 2015 at the US Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

There were already many people in lines to register their name. It was about 12 o'clock in afternoon. About 10 minutes, I could enter the gate of the embassy. There was so amazing. There were a concert stage, a showing stage, food and drink booths and a country-song concert block. I was thinking which I should visit first, and, Yeah, I went to the country-song concert very first since there were musical instruments played on the ground, which made me easily look at.

After a few songs, there was an announcement made by US ambassador in Phnom Penh to open the event. All people standing oppositely from the stage were listening to his first speech and then we respected Cambodian Anthem (Norkor Rach) and then American. I was standing listening to both proudly.

About 15 minutes later, there was another show which performed by Cambodian people. It was called របាំសហសម័យ (traditional with modern dance). I was so proud to see the performance because I had never thought that my people could do such the thing.

No longer, after the show ended, I went to see the car show. I did not know the name of the car but it was an expansive I had never even touched. However, I was allowed not only to take the photos, but also to seat inside the car.

The U.S. 7th Fleet Band started their instruments. The drums was rolled while the guitar was played along with other ones. People started to go to the stage again. The singers started the songs while the audiences took their phone out of the pocket and took photos and videos of the amazing show. At the same time, people started to dance along the music. Everyone danced, jumped, and put their hand up as the song "Shake It Off" For video " Dancing Video"

Three hours was too fast for me as well as everyone. The event finished successfully and peacefully. Everyone started to leave the embassy.

For me, it was an amazing event I have ever taken place. I not only experienced with new things, but also socialized myself as well.
